NASHVILLE Tenn. — Meharry Medical College President Dr. Wayne J. Riley has been named to the Institute of Medicine.
Institute president Dr. Harvey V. Fineberg announced Riley’s selection on Monday at a ceremony in Washington.
Riley is a professor of internal medicine at Meharry and Vanderbilt University School of Medicine and a senior health policy associate for the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Center for Health Policy at Meharry.
The Institute of Medicine is devoted to improving public health and provides objective, evidence-based advice to policymakers, health professionals, the private sector and the public.
Riley got his undergraduate degree in anthropology from Yale University and medical training from Morehouse School of Medicine. He also studied at Tulane University and Rice University.
